Privacy Policy

Monsieur Meursault ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect data when you use the Monsieur Meursault iOS application, web application, or browser extension (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We collect only the data necessary to provide the App's core functionality: • Contact Information — Your email address or phone number, provided when you create an account. Used solely for authentication. • Profile Information — Your display name and optional profile photo. • User Content — Wine cellar entries, tasting notes, saved wines, bottle reminders, and other content you create within the App. This data is linked to your account. • Device Identifier — A Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token is stored to deliver push notifications (e.g. bottle-opening reminders). This token is not linked to your identity. • Photos — If you choose to upload a profile photo, the image is stored securely in our cloud storage.

We use the information we collect exclusively to: • Provide, maintain, and improve the App's core features. • Authenticate your account securely. • Deliver push notifications you have scheduled or enabled. • Generate personalized wine recommendations using AI (processed server-side via Anthropic's Claude; your content is not stored by third-party AI providers). • Process subscription payments via the Apple App Store and RevenueCat. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Your data is stored in a secure cloud database provided by Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies enforced. All data in transit is encrypted using TLS. We retain your data for as long as your account is active.

The App integrates with the following third-party services: • Supabase — Database and authentication (supabase.com) • Firebase Cloud Messaging — Push notification delivery (firebase.google.com). Firebase may collect a Device ID for this purpose as described in Google's privacy policy. • RevenueCat / Apple App Store — Subscription management and payment processing (revenuecat.com). We do not store your payment card details. • Anthropic — AI-powered recommendations are processed via our server-side edge functions. Your wine content is sent to Anthropic's Claude API but is not used for model training under their commercial API terms (anthropic.com). Each provider operates under their own privacy policy.

The Monsieur Meursault browser extension lets you use your sommelier on wine-related webpages. When you use it, the visible text of the page you are viewing may be sent to our servers to generate recommendations; it is processed as described above and not sold or shared. The extension does not track your browsing history, does not collect data from pages when you are not actively using it, and stores your login session locally in your browser.

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app (Preferences > Account) or by emailing sante@monsieurmeursault.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request." If you signed in using a third-party service such as Facebook, you can also request deletion of the data associated with that login the same way. Deletion requests are honored within 30 days.

We do not use advertising identifiers, cross-app tracking technologies, or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

You may request to: • Access the personal data we hold about you. • Correct inaccurate data. • Delete your account and all associated data. • Export your wine cellar and tasting notes. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at sante@monsieurmeursault.com. We will respond within 30 days.

The App contains content related to alcohol and is intended for users aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us personal data, contact us and we will promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date below. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
