Monsieur Meursault remembers what you liked, what you own, and what you should open next, at the table, in the shop, and inside your cellar.
Free to start. Your first 5 questions are on us.

What it does
Every rating, every note, every bottle you've loved sharpens what Monsieur Meursault suggests next. Scan a label or a wine list and get a read informed by your actual taste.
Log what you own and Monsieur Meursault tracks it with you, flagging drinking windows so you know what to open tonight and what to leave alone for another five years.
Ask about a producer, a vintage, or what to pour with dinner and get a real answer, based on your preferences and history.
For every moment

Scan the wine list. Get a pick built on what you actually like, not what's most expensive.

Scan the label before it's in your cart. Know if it's worth it, and if you'll like it.

See what you own, what's ready, and what's still waiting. Nothing opened too soon or forgotten too long.
Why it's different
Most wine apps guess. Monsieur Meursault remembers. It holds your ratings, your collection, and your history in one place, and uses all of it, every time you scan a label, ask a question, or wonder what to open tonight.
The result isn't a star rating. It's a private sommelier that gets sharper the more you use it.

Frequently asked
Getting Started
Creating an account is simple. Download the iPhone app or open the web app and create a free account with your email address and a password. You can start using Monsieur Meursault immediately.
Yes. Your first five questions are on us, no plan required. After that, choose the plan that fits how you drink.
Yes. Monsieur Meursault is available as a native iOS app on the App Store and as a full web application at app.monsieurmeursault.com. Your account, cellar, and tasting history sync seamlessly between platforms.
Not yet. In the meantime app.monsieurmeursault.com works fully in any mobile browser. Add it to your home screen and it behaves much like a native app. Android is on the roadmap.
Your Cellar & History
My Cellar tracks wines you currently own and have in storage. Tasting History is a record of wines you have already consumed, including your ratings and personal tasting notes.
Yes. Export your data as a CSV from CellarTracker, then go to Preferences > Upload Cellar to import it. Supported fields include Wine Name, Type, Producer, Vintage, Grape Variety, Quantity, Purchase Price, Storage Location, Notes, Score, and Drink By.
Yes. Nothing has to match a catalogue entry. You can add any bottle manually.
Yes. Advanced search covers your cellar and tasting history by producer, region, grape, and vintage. You can also simply ask in the chat, for example, "what Rhône do I have left?" works just as well.
The AI Sommelier
Your sommelier draws on your stated preferences, every wine you have rated, your cellar composition, and your feedback on past recommendations. The more you log and rate, the more precisely it personalizes to your palate.
Ask anything you would ask a world-class sommelier in person. The more context you give, the better. Instead of "Recommend a wine from Burgundy under $50," try "Recommend a white wine from Burgundy under $50 that someone who typically likes California Chardonnay would also enjoy."
Yes, and that is rather the point. Monsieur Meursault carries your preferences, ratings, cellar, and tasting history into every answer, so you never have to explain your palate twice.
Yes. Describe the dish in plain language and it will suggest bottles, from your cellar if you have one or from the wider world if you are shopping. The more detail about the dish, the better the pick.
You can ask your sommelier to save wines you want to remember or to alert you, for example, "Don't forget to pick up a bottle of Meursault tomorrow." You can also ask it to create tastings for you, like, "Create a tasting for me comparing Brunello and Barolo."
Scanning Labels & Menus
Tap Scan Labels and take a photo of a wine label or a restaurant menu. Your sommelier identifies the wine and gives you personalized recommendations based on your taste profile, tasting history, and budget, instantly.
Yes. Photograph the list, or just the section you are deciding between, and ask the app to choose. Monsieur Meursault reads the whole thing and recommends wines based on your profile.
Common reasons: the wine is rare, the label is not readily visible, or the producer makes several similar cuvées. If this occurs, do not worry. You can edit the wine details in Save to History, or correct your sommelier in the chat and it will make adjustments.
Yes, just say so in the chat, as you would to a person. "That is the Premier Cru, not the village." Monsieur Meursault takes the correction for the rest of the conversation, and it sticks to the bottle if you have saved it.
Trust & Privacy
From our trained AI model, not a crowdsourced review database. Monsieur Meursault reasons about your palate rather than averaging thousands of strangers' ratings.
No. We sell subscriptions and nothing else. No retailer deals, no affiliate links, no sponsored bottles. When Monsieur Meursault recommends a wine, it is because it suits your palate, not because someone paid for the placement.
No. Your conversations, cellar, and tasting notes are yours. We do not sell your data. It is used only to make your sommelier sharper for you.
